Catalyst I
2006 -07, black and red Micron pen on tracing paper. Catalyst begins by laying 489 rubber bands on the
paper's surface and tracing their interior and exterior forms. Every 3 feet the rubber bands re-layed and
one rubber band is removed and traced in black ink. One is traced in red ink. The process continues,
eliminating one rubber band, tracing in black ink and two in red ink. Each session is audio recorded with
contact microphones and dated. Two 18” x 1800” scrolls.
